Desired Outcomes
Objectives: Explain the importance of homeostasis in the human body
Describe the structures and functions of different body systems and how they help maintain homeostasis
(activity) Create an artistic representation of homeostasis
Essential Questions: How is change reflected through art and technology?
How do your different body systems maintain homeostasis in a changing environment?
Assessment of Learning
Small- and whole-group discussion; monitoring students’ progress during project; presentation of project/posters; completion of notes, assignments, and summative test; informal polls/quizzes.
Arts/Technology Integration Strategy
Videos and Powerpoint slides will be shown. Students have created posters representing homeostasis and are presenting them with their groups.
Learning Plan for the Week
Direct Instruction: The teacher will provide daily instructions. Students will deliver the notes for the different body systems in their groups. The teacher will support students in their explanations.
Guided Practice: The teacher will assist students in their explanations of homeostasis concepts and body systems to the class. Teacher will also lead students through a review for the test.
Independent Practice: Students will fill out their own notes, take individual quizzes/tests, and complete individual assignments.
Closure: Students present their posters about homeostasis and take a test to conclude our homeostasis unit and the marking period.
Materials/Resources: Handouts will be provided for students; students should have notebooks, folders/binders, and something to write with every day. They should keep their textbooks at home for a resource.

(3rd hour: Finish making posters, everything else gets moved one day)

(30) Finish presenting posters; peer evaluations for project
(20) Review for test with groups
