Desired Outcomes
Objectives:
Explain how natural selection leads to changes in species
Essential Questions: How do we use technology to see the world?
How do species change over time?
Assessment of Learning
In-class assignment investigating cases of natural selection more closely; final project (counts as an assessment).
Arts/Technology Integration Strategy
Students will use their Chromebooks to work on their projects and will research current events related to evolution, read a sexual selection comic, create their own illustrated stories or comic strips, etc.
Learning Plan for the Week
Hook: HOW do species change?
Direct Instruction: The teacher will provide instructions for daily activities and the projects.
Guided Practice: The teacher will provide students with a choice of projects and provide guidance and resources for completing them.
Independent Practice: Students will complete individual review projects.
Closure: Students will complete a project of their choice demonstrating their understanding of natural selection, to be counted as their final assessment.
Materials/Resources: Handouts will be provided for students when needed; students should have notebooks, folders/binders, their computers, and something to write with every day. They should BRING THEIR TEXTBOOKS BACK to school!
