Desired Outcomes
Objectives:
Explain how natural selection leads to changes in species
Essential Questions: How do we use technology to see the world?
How do species change over time? How does natural selection explain the traits we see?
Assessment of Learning
Review assignment; project on animal adaptations and natural selection.
Arts/Technology Integration Strategy
Students will use their Chromebooks to work on their projects and will research animal adaptations and effects of environmental changes. Students can elect to use their Chromebooks to create their entire project.
Learning Plan for the Week
Hook: What will these animals look like 50,000 years in the future?
Direct Instruction: The teacher will provide instructions for daily activities and the project..
Guided Practice: The teacher will provide students with a review assignment and provide examples for how to produce the project.
Independent Practice: Students will complete individual review assignments and create individual projects.
Closure: Students will complete a project showing how an existing animal may evolve in the future based on environmental changes.
Materials/Resources: Handouts will be provided for students when needed; students should have notebooks, folders/binders, their computers, and something to write with every day. They should keep their textbooks at home for a resource.

Speculative biology - animals of the future? (crazy science-fiction type ideas.. good for creative inspiration!)
