Desired Outcomes
Objectives:
Define evolution and explain how we know it happens
Essential Questions: How do art and technology communicate relationship?
How do species change over time? How do we know what is related?
Assessment of Learning
Daily warm-ups; monitoring students’ progress during independent work; completion of daily assignments; video questions.
Arts/Technology Integration Strategy
Videos and Powerpoint slides will be shown. Students will watch and analyze a film related to genetic engineering.
Learning Plan for the Week
Hook: What is evolution? What does it really mean?
Direct Instruction: The teacher will provide instructions for how to set up online accounts, and for the video
Guided Practice: The teacher will begin activities with the students and help guide them through the answers to the film questions.
Independent Practice: Students will complete individual film questionnaires.
Closure: Students will watch a NOVA video about evolution, explaining the major ideas and examples of evidence.
Materials/Resources: Handouts will be provided for students; students should have notebooks, folders/binders, their computers, and something to write with every day. They should keep their textbooks at home for a resource.
