Desired Outcomes
Objectives:
Evaluate readiness for ACT math, reading, writing, and science sections (ongoing)
Identify one’s own academic strategies and develop new ones
Identify goals for academic success (long-term and short-term)
Expand vocabulary through LINCS vocabulary strategies
Essential Questions: How is change reflected through art?
How do you manage your time? How does it affect your grades? How can you change your habits? What skills do you need to work on next quarter?
Assessment of Learning
Small- and whole-group discussion; practice tests; formative assessments.
Arts/Technology Integration Strategy
Videos and Powerpoint slides will be shown.
Learning Plan for the Week
Hook: How are you going to achieve your goals? How do you manage your time as a busy student? What do you need to work on next quarter?
Direct Instruction: The teacher will provide instructions on ACT tests, goal setting, time management skills and tips, other study skills, and LINCS vocab strategy.
Guided Practice: Teacher will model how to answer questions and fill out the various forms, give examples of time management techniques, and model how to create LINCS cards.
Independent Practice: Students will individually take practice tests, fill out study skill checklists, take an end of marking period assessment, and complete exit tickets.
Closure: What have you learned in this class, what do you want to achieve by the end of high school, and what do you need to start doing now/next quarter to get there?
Materials/Resources: Handouts will be provided. Students must have notebooks, something to write with, and their folder/binder for this class EVERY DAY.
