Desired Outcomes
Objectives:
Evaluate one’s grades and set SMART goals for maintaining or improving them
Write a personal essay and use a rubric to evaluate and revise it
Develop & practice active listening skills
Develop effective study habits
Essential Questions: How do art and technology influence culture?
How are your grades and what can you do to improve them?
How do you write a good essay?
Assessment of Learning
Small- and whole-group discussion; warm-ups, exit tickets, and completion of assignments.
Arts/Technology Integration Strategy
Videos and Powerpoint slides will be shown.
Learning Plan for the Week
Hook: How was your progress report? Do you have the grades you want?
Direct Instruction: The teacher will provide instructions on how to complete the assignments and share information with students about tips for 9th graders, how to write essays, and what are some high-paying and in-demand jobs.
Guided Practice: Teacher will model how to fill out the various surveys, demonstrate active listening skills, and give students prompts to respond to for small- and whole-group discussions.
Independent Practice: Students will individually complete warm-ups, assignments, and exit tickets, and write and evaluate a peer’s essay.
Closure: Create a plan for making up work over Christmas break to get those grades up!
Materials/Resources: Handouts will be provided. Students must have notebooks, something to write with, and their folder/binder for this class EVERY DAY.

Figure out what you are missing for each class using Infinite Campus
Make a specific and realistic plan for catching up on work over Christmas break (review SMART goals)
Work on missing assignments
Friday
Make-up work & holiday party
