Week of April 28th – May 1st
Desired Outcomes
Objectives:
Identify the most important teachings of world religions about how to treat people and why
Compare and contrast teachings of world religions
Analyze the motivations of people of faith
Define inspiration and identify your greatest inspirations
Essential Questions: How do art and technology influence culture?
What is compassion? What is motivation? What motivates people to be compassionate?
Assessment of Learning
Small- and whole-group discussion; monitoring students’ progress during activities; plenary questioning at the end of class/other exit tickets; in-class assignments demonstrating learning.
Arts/Technology Integration Strategy
Videos and Powerpoint slides will be shown. Students will create a presentation on who is most inspirational to them. Students will use their Chromebooks on a near-daily basis and will blog on the Face to Faith website.
Learning Plan for the Week
Hook: What does a religion teach and why?
Direct Instruction: Teacher will give instructions for all activities and lead discussions.
Guided Practice: The teacher will assist students with research and model/start off activities (ex: making links sheet).
Independent Practice: Students will individually complete exit tickets about what they learned and complete in-class assignments. They will work in groups to compare and contrast religions and what they teach/why they teach it and to analyze motivation.
Closure: Students will reflect on what they learned during the week about motivation and inspiration by creating a presentation on who is most inspirational to them.
Materials/Resources: Handouts will be provided. Students need to bring something to write with, binders/folders, and their computers to class every day.

(30) Faith and belief sheets: What does this religion teach? Why does it teach it?
(20) Making Links: Switch partners and help find the links between “what” and “why”
Tuesday
(15) Complete “Making links” paper
(30) Venn Diagrams: Triple compare/contrast between religions – what they teach and why
(10) Exit ticket: How do these religions affect the cultures of these places?
Wednesday
(5) WU: What motivates people to be compassionate?
(10) Charities: What motivates them?
(10) Motivation cards: What motivates you? How is it similar or different?
(25) Blog: Compassion and motivation
Homework: What is inspiration? What inspires you? Who inspires you?
Thursday
(all hour) presentations: Who inspires you? How?
